The Odd One Out

90x100cm Oil On Canvas

This painting was donated to the Singapore National Gallery for a charity auction, with all proceeds going to the gallery. The theme is “Tropicanal.” Lately, I’ve been drinking a lot of wine and collecting some as well. As a result, I’ve incorporated alcohol into this painting.

You’ll notice the cupid holding a cocktail glass. While the liquid inside appears transparent, it’s actually coconut water. This is because children shouldn’t drink alcohol, so the cupid enjoys coconut water in a stylish manner instead. Everything depicted in the painting, from the fruits to the hornbill, represents the “Tropicanal” theme. However, there’s an unexpected element hidden within: a grape. This is why I’ve titled the painting “The Odd One Out.”
