15th February

80x100cm Oil On Canvas

15th February is a painting about heartbreak, misunderstanding, and the quiet hope that love—when it’s meant to be—might still find its way.

The story behind this piece begins on Valentine’s Day, when a man spots the woman he secretly loves walking with another person. His heart sinks. He assumes she’s already with someone else, and without asking or speaking, he quietly retreats. The next day, February 15th, he approaches a trash bin and discards the bouquet he had planned to give her—a gesture that was meant to be his silent confession. His feelings, he believes, are no longer welcome.

But what if he was wrong?

Above him, two cupids observe the moment. One prepares to shoot an arrow toward the man, sensing his lingering affection. But his companion steps in and gently adjusts his aim—toward the woman, who hasn’t gone far. Perhaps she wasn’t with a lover at all. Perhaps she felt the same. The truth is, he never asked.

The red heels left at the curb hint at a story unfinished. The yellow car, the graffiti-scrawled wall, and the almost theatrical lighting set the stage for a scene many of us know all too well: when assumption replaces communication, and love slips through unnoticed.

This painting is a reminder that so much of love is timing and perception. We often jump to conclusions, assuming we’ve missed our chance—when sometimes, the door is still open. And maybe, just maybe, love is still trying to help us find our way back.
